In my teen years I became deeply involved in the counter-culture of New
Zealand, where I was born and raised. This alternative life-style produced much pressure and confusion which led me to attempt suicide at the age of 19. Having thankfully failed at that I then became involved in music, as a drummer, and eventually turned professional for
nearly 10 years. This led me to move to Australia to further my musical career. Secular music gave me a certain amount of success but inevitably it left me empty.
However, In the early eighties my life
experienced a dramatic turnaround when I accepted Jesus Christ as my
personal Savior. Within a few months, I had enrolled full time in
Bible College. On my graduation I accepted a position as
assistant to Frank Houston, who was a member of the Australian A/G
National Executive and Senior Minister of Sydney Christian Life
Centre, now a part of the Hillsong Church. I worked closely on the pastoral team with Pastor Frank Houston and his son Brian (the General superintendent of the A/G in Australia) for 17 years.
Over the last 25 years of ministry I have
dedicated myself to leading people to Christ and discipleship. I
have ministered extensively in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, The
Philippines, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Canada, The United States,
England, Wales, Denmark and the Carribean.
I am the founder and director of Firepower
Ministries International (FMI), founded in 1989. FMI is committed to seeing spiritual transformation come to the nations through evangelism strategies, leadership conferences, focusing on imparting a greater passion for Christ and soul-winning into the Church, and to see leaders encouraged and developed. I also act as a consultant to many churches and ministries concerning leadership issues, staff relationships, ethics, organization and conflict resolution.
FMI has been responsible for hosting various events and crusades including the “Catch
the Fire Down Under” and “City of Fire” Conferences. I
was also the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Australian
A/G National Conference in Sydney in 1991. I served on the steering committees for the “Awake
America” crusade and the United in Prayer Gathering in the New
York/New Jersey area with the leadership team from the Pensacola
Revival.
As well as conducting an itinerant ministry, I am
the chairman of the Regional Leadership Council for Christ Covenant Coalition, a network of key ministries in New York City, an executive council member for City
Action Coalition, a public advocacy group and also a member of the executive council for
FaithNet USA, a network of ministries, ministers and churches,
and a member of the NJFPC Clergy Advisory Council.
I serve locally as an apostolic elder at The Church Of Grace and Peace, Toms River NJ (the USA base for FMI),
and on the governing boards of several key churches in the Northeast
of America.
I write regularly for several publications and publish a monthly e-zine called "The
FMI Report" that goes out to approximately 5000 people in 25 countries.
In 1999, we relocated our base to New Jersey in obedience to God’s call. We were sent from Sydney Christian Life Centre, now a part of the Hillsong Church, as missionary pastor/evangelists to the Northeast of America. |
