INTRODUCTION
In the 1951 science fiction movie, "The Day the Earth Stood Still," an extraterrestrial comes to warn Earth about its uncertain future. Like Ezekiel's Biblical wheel sent by God, the alien, Klaatu and his robot, Gort, land in Washington, DC in a mysterious flying saucer with a spiritual message. Klaatu is killed by fearful soldiers. Gort disarms the soldiers with a heat ray and resurrects Klaatu.

In his memorable departing speech, Klaatu warns the Earthlings that they must either live in peace or be destroyed by Gort. "Your choice is simple: join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision rests with you."

MR. CARPENTER
The Biblical symbolism is obvious! Klaatu is a messianic figure who takes the name 'Carpenter,' Jesus' occupation. He is a gentle person from the heavens bearing a message of peace, killed by the very people he has come to save. A higher power resurrects him so that he can complete his mission and ascend back to his celestial home, where he says he'll be watching us. Gort acts as "God," watching over whatever Klaatu does. He is the one that deals out the final punishment to those who don't listen to Klaatu.

THE ORIGINAL DAY THAT STOOD STILL
There is, however, an even more striking event recorded in the Old Testament, which is not science fiction and also involves a day the Earth stood still. In Joshua 10:12-14, we read, "Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: 'Sun, stand still over Gibeon; and Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.' So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the LORD heeded the voice of a man; for the LORD fought for Israel."

God made the Earth stand still for a day so that His people could have a resounding victory. This was a unique event that had never happened before but is it possible that we may be in a similar time right now?

A REPRIEVE
Up until the last Presidential Election, you could be forgiven for thinking that America was in an unstoppable spiral downward to moral anarchy. Just like Joshua who tirelessly "...came upon them suddenly, having marched all night from Gilgal" (Joshua 10:9), an unusually motivated church woke up and let its voice be heard in this election.

We are now in an unprecedented time of reprieve during the next few years in America, where we can turn back the clock on the downward slide that we have seen over the last forty years of moral wilderness. We have now crossed over into a Land of Promise. However, the worst thing we can do is think that we have arrived. We have to possess our inheritance by tirelessly fighting for what is right while it is still a day when the earth is standing still! #

Children of the City Celebrate 24 Years of Service to New York City's Children - Joyce Mattera devotes large amounts of time and energy into heading up this vital ministry to the kids of Brooklyn and beyond. Children of the City was founded in 1981. Every month, over 1,000 children are visited in their homes and encouraged to take part in one of the various programs. Children participate in team-based games and are taught value-based lessons designed to deter them from a future of crime, drugs, abuse, and delinquency. An annual fundraising dinner was held on February 17th at the world famous "Tavern on the Green" restaurant in Central Park, NYC. About 150 attended.

Global Harvest Hosts Conference on Sexual Brokenness for New Jersey - Peter Wagner, Doris Wagner, Chuck Pierce, Peter Horrobin and David Kyle Foster were the main speakers at this conference, whose purpose was to try and undo the failure of the sexual revolution.

Peter Wagner said, "Flesh baits the trap and Satan springs it…. The most vulnerable area to spring the trap is sex.... Sexual sins are the worst sins that there are…." Doris Wagner said that in her long experience with deliverance concerning sexuality that "...several themes occur over and over - rejection and lust issues…" David Kyle Foster, a former homosexual, said that "...the Bible talks about behavior, not identity…. Homosexuals are really broken heterosexuals...." Peter Horrobin of Ellel Ministries which ministers to the abused, said, "When someone has been abused something in them has died…. 70-75% of people who have thought of suicide have been abused. In sexual abuse, your free will has been stolen. There are soul ties established through abuse." Chuck Pierce offered prophetic encouragement to those dealing with these issues, "This is a year to come full circle and break old cycles…. There is grace this year to break some issues that you've never been able to break before. This is a Jericho Year, where what seems unbreakable will be shattered."

City Action Coalition Responds to New York Supreme Court Judge's Ruling that Gay Marriage is Okay in New York State - This report comes from Joseph Mattera, Director, City Action Coalition, "In spite of the inclement weather and only a week to pull it off, we had a very successful press conference/rally on the steps of New York City Hall, Monday, February 14! There were about 100 clergy, and in addition, another 150-200 folks who came to support traditional marriage that stayed in the City Hall Park area praying and waving posters.

Also, in spite of the weather we had decent coverage from the media. There were numerous newspaper reporters, TV stations; Fox News and NBC, plus 1010 WINS, WCBS, WABC, and WMCA carried the event as one of their main stories all day Monday. We were covered by several major newspapers including NY Newsday, NY Observer, and the NY Sun in addition to numerous specialized and weekly papers (Jewish, Catholic Press, gay papers, Brooklyn papers). We also impacted the City Council as there were at least three council members who made comments (negative and positive) about us doing this on Valentine's Day.

So, we are getting our pro-marriage message out to the public and making an impact! Let’s keep pressing on, we can win this battle...! "
