This Month's Report: EDITORIAL – OUT OF THIS WORLD!
When America was founded, the main outlook on life, held by just about everyone, was the Judeo-Christian world view.
Today, that is not the case! The ‘freedoms’ that were pioneered by the Baby Boomers in the Sixties have increasingly become mainstream in this Third Millennium and have pushed back the Christian world view into the ideological backwaters of our culture.
DISSOLVING BORDERS The current ‘diversity’ of views fits into the relativism that tends to rule today. This is a very dangerous threat to the future of America, one of the last bastions of sovereignty in a world of dissolving borders and increasing globalism.
The problem is just as serious in the church, with
the majority of professing Christians not able to understand or adhere
to a pure Christian world view. When the church begins to become
more like the world, the world loses interest in the message of Christ.
OUT OF THIS WORLD Jesus told Pontius Pilate that His Kingdom was 'not of this world...' (John 18:36). He also told His disciples that the Kingdom was within (Luke 17:21). However, when He instructed His followers to pray, He exhorted them to pray '...Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven' (Matthew 6:10).
Christ left us as His representatives to enforce the victory that He had already won through His death and resurrection. Although His Kingdom is not of this world, He wants it to come to this world! When the Father's will is done on the earth, the Kingdom is indeed established and Heaven begins to come down and invade the darkness with the salt and light of God.
THE THEOLOGY OF MODERNITY For the Church, a compromised world view means our salt and light loses its integrity. I long for the day when the American Church will return to its roots and put off the theology of modernity that has crept in and watered down our message. That message is eternal and uncompromising! How long can we rely on God's grace towards this nation. For a few righteous, He might spare this nation for a time... but for how long?
