INTRODUCTION

There are some today who believe that America is no longer just a 'Christian' nation, despite the fact that the majority of Americans still believe in freedom, free enterprise, and that in the United States you can do virtually anything except that which is against the law. This world view cannot be separated from the undeniable Christian foundation of this nation as a constitutional republic.

Before America existed, the world kingdoms of the West were based upon the power of the state. This originated in Rome and was perfected in the Middle Ages; governments believed more in the supremacy of their own power. The foundation of America challenged that stereotype! It became the only country in the history of the world that was founded on Christian precepts such as God is sovereign, not the state, and government is responsible to man and God.

IMAGINE

It would be a very different world today if America didn't exist! For a start, Britain would almost certainly have lost the two great wars of the last century without America's help, and Hitler would have reigned supreme with his Third Reich (1,000 year reign of the National Socialist Party, known as the Nazis), which refers to the state as the successor to the Holy Roman Empire of the Middle Ages (the First Reich) and the German Empire of 1871–1918 (the Second Reich).

If it were not for America, we would be speaking German or Japanese today, the Bible would have been outlawed, with freedom and democracy just a faint memory lost in the totalitarian vision of the Nazis. In the political climate here in America today, many are seeing similarities to those leading up to Hitler's ascension to power in the 1930s. I believe we are at the most pivotal point of our nation's history since its inception. The future of the world as we know it is at stake. If the United States fails as a country, there will be little hope for the rest of the world.

BACK TO BASICS

With regard to America's inception, in December 1606, the British sent an expedition to establish a settlement in the Virginia Colony, which eventually became known as Jamestown. Named after King James (of King James Bible fame), it is commonly regarded as the first permanent English settlement in the United States of America. After many supply ships were wrecked and initial attempts to build relationships with the local Indians failed, many of the settlers nearly lost their lives from starvation.

One small, but very important, component of how the settlers grew their food made all the difference. They had originally banded together to grow food, with one common garden. This became a failed experiment and contributed to the near starvation of the settlement. When families began to grow their own gardens, they and their settlement began to prosper. The moral of this story is obvious — freedom to take charge of your own destiny and to be rewarded for your own efforts became a basic building block of this nation.

WHAT WILL WE DO...?

Today, we have an obligation to the world to maintain our freedom. At the heart of all our liberties is the inescapable truth of the indelible mark of Christianity at the foundation of this republic. It was birthed as a result of the rightful separation from tyranny without and now needs to defend itself from tyranny within. Will it take another revolution to restore America...? Maybe, but a sweeping revival of the church would solve everything. The future of America ultimately depends on it!

It is now about a month since I had the last dose of chemo. I am getting stronger every day and feeling human again.

This past week, I had a follow up appointment with my surgeon. He was very happy with my progress and thought I was doing "much better than good."

In his opinion, it usually takes the average person one and a half times as long to get over their disease as the time taken for the treatment. In my case, that was seven months. Glory to God, he felt that I would be back to normal within seven months instead of the usual 10-11 months!

I will send an update with more details and prayer points in the next week or two.
