EDITORIAL – Announcing GenNet!

 

GenNet

For the past six months, I have been developing the concept of GenNet (Generations Network). As described below, this will be a network designed to address the problem of the absence of 18-35 year olds in the church of America. This issue poses an enormous threat not only to the future of the church, but the nation and our western way of life! GenNet alone cannot conquer this problem, but it will be a start! How do you eat an elephant...? One bite at a time!

 

Below is a basic description of the what, who, when, why and how it will happen.

WHAT: GenNet (Generations Network) is a tri-generational, relational and organic network of those with like spirit and a high appreciation for the value of fathers, sons and daughters, and spiritual grandchildren interacting for the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

WHO: I, Jeff Beacham, will be assembling a lead team of key influential young leaders who will govern the implementation of GenNet. There will be several levels of involvement for emerging young leaders to take advantage of GenNet.

WHEN: The vision of GenNet is to mentor, equip, encourage, empower, and release the emerging generations of young apostolic and prophetic leaders in the Body of Christ.

WHY: Jeff Beacham has responded to a call to impart all that he has learned into sons and daughters in the faith. They, in turn, will be encouraged to pass the baton to the next generation after them.

After years of accomplishing this on an organic and relational basis, my brush with death due to cancer in 2009 convinced me that nearly 30 years of ministry experience - including traveling to many nations, speaking in over 6,000 churches, living in three distinct cultures (New Zealand, Australia and the United States), and being in leadership at one of the world's great churches (Sydney Christian Life Centre, now part of the Hillsong Church) - would all be lost if I had passed away!

Consequently, I was constrained to add some structure and expansion to my mentoring and fathering efforts. Thus GenNet was conceived in late 2009.

HOW: The purpose of GenNet is not to be a hospital for the broken. There are many other ministries that are adequately fulfilling that call. Those who are a part of GenNet are young ministers who are already on the front line and are pre-supposed to be fit and strong enough for battle.

The purpose of GenNet is to help the next generation advance the front line!

GenNet will also give members exposure to other ministers and ministries of similar passion and spirit, both nationally and internationally. Membership in GenNet is by invitation and referral only.

Interns Discover Spiritual Shift in Hollywood as Network of Prayer for Hollywood Professionals Gears Up for National Day of Prayer (Michael Ireland, www.breakingchristiannews.com, April 1, 2010)

(Hollywood, CA) — Two college interns began working at the Hollywood Prayer Network (HPN) in mid-January where they suddenly began to see a side of Hollywood that is very rarely seen or understood: the spiritual side.

A few weeks into working at HPN, the two interns began to periodically conduct street interviews with local Hollywood professionals about spirituality. "What was quickly uncovered was an astounding revelation that the vast majority of industry workers are thirsting for some sort of spiritual connection," said Hollywood Prayer Network Founder, Karen Covell.

"During one of the interviews the interns caught an actor, Stephen, outside Paramount Studios, and it was revealed that he was longing for a spiritual bolstering," she said. "Stephen is just the tip of the iceberg. In fact, all seven interviewees from that day divulged a faith or hunger for God."

Covell said HPN believes in the power of prayer and the real, exciting effects it can have on life. She added: "Praying for Hollywood stars and industry professionals may sound strange to many, but HPN is passionate about it."

In fact, according to an HPN media release, they'll be gathering with hundreds of other industry professionals and local church leaders on Thursday, May 6th at 7:30 pm at Bel Air Presbyterian Church for the National Day of Prayer.
