INTRODUCTION
A recent satellite photo of the globe showed an
interesting result. All those countries where Christianity had been the
basis of their culture for a long period appeared as green and lush. This
greenness conformed almost exactly with national boundaries. In
contrast, those nations that worshiped other gods were typified by a
dirty brown color. Environmentalists would be the first to celebrate
green as a color of life while brown is usually seen as a color of
death!
THE BREAD BASKET OF THE WORLD
America is called the 'bread basket of the world.'
Is it just a coincidence that the world's most prosperous country is also
the nation that espouses Christian values more than any other? 9/11 was
the only time America has been attacked on her own soil. By and large,
discounting the Civil War and Pearl Harbor, which was not part of
America at the time, the United States has been a safe place to live. In
Third World and developing nations such as Uganda, Christianity has
played a major role in their emergence out of poverty. They are going
from brown to green.
NATURAL, THEN THE SPIRITUAL?
1 Corinthians 15:46 is one of my favorite verses,
"However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the
spiritual." However, in this context, we see that when the spiritual
Kingdom of Christ becomes resident in the hearts of any people, the
natural environment benefits as His righteousness is manifested
outwardly. The result is a decline in crime, greed, corruption, and
selfishness. Any religion that promotes violence and destruction in the
name of their 'god,' will never be a secure place for life and limb.
STRENGTH AND WEAKNESS
America's strength has been her prosperity, and
that can be directly related to America's faith in God. But a nation's
greatest strength can be it's greatest weakness! With the exception of
9/11, America has remained almost unimpregnable. The only thing likely
to affect America's security will come from within! Today, obesity is
probably the most dangerous threat to America's future. If trends toward
overeating continue, we will end up eating ourselves to death within a
few generations.
On the other hand, in many western nations, with a zero or minus birth
rate and unfettered Muslim immigration to those
countries, with their large families, the majority of voters within a
few generations will be Muslim. This would say that the strategy of
terrorism is futile and defeatist in the long run. If Muslims were
smarter, they would just live peaceful lives, keep on breeding, and
eventually take over the world by sheer weight of numbers.
RETURNING TO RIGHTEOUSNESS
Over the last forty years, America has begun to
lose her grip upon her prosperity. This can be directly tracked to
the decline in faith, morality, and the acceptance of abortion, among other
things. All these
have robbed America of future generations who could carry on the cause,
and rule, of Christ. Returning to righteousness is not turning back the
clock, as progressive secularists would have you believe. True
repentance is turning around, not turning back. It is
strengthening an atrophied morality. Wherever Christ rules, there is
safety, security, and prosperity! #
