INTRODUCTION
Today, many believe that America is in the same
state as when the Roman Empire began its decline in the early part of the
first millennium AD. In recent years, the scandals among political
leaders have mimicked some of those that were evident in ancient Rome
with some of its debauched emperors. Unfortunately, scandals among
spiritual leaders seem to be no less than their political counterparts.
Just like Rome, the greatest threat to America's future comes from
within, not without. Nevertheless, the future of the world still
depends a lot on America's onward course. America is a great nation
still, but her continuing greatness depends entirely on the
saltiness of the church!
BLESSING OR CURSE?
Charles Finney, the architect of the Great
Awakening, had words to say which seem to be more relevant today than
when they were uttered nearly 300 years ago. He said, “The time has come
that Christians must vote for honest men, and take consistent ground in
politics or the Lord will curse them.... Christians have been exceedingly
guilty in this matter. But the time has come when they must act
differently.... God will bless or curse this nation, according to the
course Christians take.”
The November elections seemed to indicate that the Church had fallen
asleep at the wheel again, allowing an editorially biased media system
to 'vote' for them by swaying public opinion against the course that
this nation had been following, namely to take a stand in the ongoing
struggle for the soul of humanity.
LIFE OR DEATH?
The battle to eradicate terrorism is not fought
over national boundaries, but between competing world views. One
glorifies death and the other celebrates life, in all its forms. The war
against terrorism is really just one more battle in the primordial
struggle of life against death.
In this age, radical jihadism has chosen death to advance its cause.
According to Mark Goldblatt, "Strapping explosives to your torso,
marching yourself into a crowded marketplace and blowing yourself up in
order to slaughter as many civilians, including women and children, as
you can is a profoundly demented act, an act which undoes a dozen or so
millennia in the moral evolution of the human species."
A MUSLIM PRESIDENT?
However, the strategy of terrorism is really only a
distraction. Muslin ideology will make more advances by manipulating
public opinion, utilizing political correctness, than by employing
violence. According to a reliable source, at a national conference for
Muslims some years ago, it was stated that their goal was to have a
Muslim President in America by the year 2116.
These and other counter-Christian 'visions' would see a very different
future for America than what was envisioned when the foundations of this
nation were laid. With the looming prospect of a Muslim, or a certain
liberal and female president on the horizon, it's time for the Church to 'rise and
shine' and choose to give this nation a future that would glorify the
God of the Bible.
All that depends on the course Christians take.
