INSULTS TO EARTH'S BALANCE
I want you to read this very telling commentary from
columnist Kathleen Parker (left), “Toni Vernelli was one of two women
recently featured in a London Daily Mail story about environmentalists
who take their carbon footprint very, very seriously. So seriously, in
fact, that Vernelli aborted a pregnancy and, by age 27, had herself
sterilized. Baby-making, she says, is ‘selfish’ and ‘all about
maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet.’ Because
Toni and her husband, Ed, are childless and vegan, they say they can
justify one long-haul airplane trip per year and still remain carbon
neutral.
Sarah Irving is another like-minded
nature-nurturer. She and fiancé Mark Hudson decided on him having a vasectomy to prevent the possibility of an inconvenient life interfering
with their carbon-perfect ones. Those of us who have managed to see a
pregnancy through to birth recognize the irony of these tales. If we’re
not saving the planet for our kids, for whom are we saving it? ...Suddenly, the unborn
are of no greater importance than the contents of
our recycling bin.
Like Weight Watchers dieters substituting carbs
for sugars, we trade off future members of the human race to neutralize
insults to Earth’s balance in the present. Here’s how the mental
calculation goes: Let’s see, if I abort my child, maybe I can travel
first-class to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Bali. Is
this the slippery slope that pro-lifers prophesied? Once such
utilitarian concerns edge out our humanity — and once human life is deemed
to have no greater value than any other life form — how long before we
begin tidying up other inconveniences?”
WEATHER CHANNEL FOUNDER DISSES GLOBAL WARMING
Now contrast the above comments with this story
from OneNewsNow.com, November 14, 2007. "A prominent meteorologist of
54 years experience is calling global warming an 'outrage
ous
scam' and a 'manufactured crisis.' John Coleman has been a television
meteorologist since 1953. His credentials include being the first
weather forecaster for the television show, Good Morning America, and
founder of the cable-based network, The Weather Channel.
Many years ago, Coleman says he began to hear about supposed 'global
warming' and decided to research the subject deeper and to investigate
it from a scientific stance in order to educate his viewers. "I'm not
talking about reading media accounts. I'm talking about getting down to
the basic research papers," he explains. "And the more I read them, the
more doubt I had
— and eventually the whole case just collapsed. When
you really study the documents, it becomes very clear that it was a
manufactured crisis."
Coleman claims some scientists wish to strike fear of environmental
catastrophe if people do not hold to their radical ideas. He
dispels that fear by stating that the earth is not in peril. He states
that natural cycles in weather are more responsible for any
climate
change and that over the next two decades, there is as great a chance for
a cooling trend as there is for a warming trend. He also believes that
once the dire predictions of global-warming scientists fail to come to pass,
people will realize they have been 'duped.'
Consider this! Al Gore's global warming 'religion'
is based upon graphs that NASA originally produced, which said 1998 was
the hottest year of the millennium. Recently, NASA published corrected
data that declares 1934 was the hottest year ever. We are not expecting
the former Vice President will return his Nobel Peace Prize won on what
turns out to be false information.
PLANET OF THE APES
Comedian Dennis Miller, commenting on today's
topsy-turvy world, recently compared himself to Charlton Heston waking
up in "Planet of the Apes" and discovering that everything was
upside-down. Roles were reversed with him in a cage and the "ape on the
horse!"
"...They exchanged the truth about God for a lie
and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is
blessed forever!" (Romans 1:25).
In this New Year, let us determine to live by the
truth that we see in the Creator and not by the shifting sands of social
trends. #
